TN Marathon

The weekend has finally made it here. Trent had been training like a mad man for this marathon race and I knew it would be an eventful weekend. Of course me with my camera, I took a lot of pictures...so beware. But I will always remember this fun weekend. Also it was our anniversary weekend to top it off. A huge THANK YOU to Troy and Kristin again for watching our three younger kids for us to do this.
On the road...out with Georgia and in with Tennessee.

I'm such an observer... I love being on the road.

These are everywhere...the best fireworks!

We are definitely in the south!

I love all the barns, fields, bridges, trees and fences...

What a hot babe! Look closely and you can see me in his sunglasses.

On to my crazy pics. I was testing my new remote. Sorry for the double chin...I love Jarom's eye in the background.

What a bunch of Crazies...

12 years of marriage...oh the lessons we've learned over those years...kids, time, priorities, finances, choices...so much more to learn!

Reaching Nashville, TN I was loving all of the historic buildings.

Time to check in with the race! I love the atmosphere at these expo's! It made me wish I was running the 1/2 with Trent doing the full. Most of the 1/2 is run with the full, so I had a little envy toward him...such an exhilarating time.
Yeah, welcome to the 38,000 people! It was a mad house!

That's my honey, #19089...the number he always wished for...ha!

This meant about 10 minutes from the initial start, until his turn at the starting line...a thousand people per corral.

Call me crazy, but this was a fun picture at the expo. As you can see Jarom loved it most.

Kind of wished I just bought the darn thing...

This was 2 sided...funny, but too close to the truth at these kinds of races. In fact on race day when we were waiting at the end for Trent, Jarom need to use a port-a-john and came out with a scrunched face and whispered to me, "mom, there is a lot of pooh in there!"

Walking back to the truck with our freebies in downtown Nashville.

RACE MORNING... I know, the lighting is super crazy, but it was early and I wasn't about to take a lot of effort in several takes...but he was so excited and nervous at the same time. Go Trent!

A sketchy look at the course.

This is both 1/2 and full marathon runners combined.

One stop next to the Cumberland River and the LP Field, where the TN Titans play...and where the race finishes...close to mile 12.

LP Stadium

With all the pandemonium, we only saw Trent at mile 18. ( Even though we tried several spots. Traffic was horrendous) He was doing awesome! It was on a long up hill, but he still looked phenomenal! I was only able to get a picture of him at the end with his medal. With inclement weather, it wasn't the fairy tail ending he wished for, but all the more reason to sign up for another and spank the course. I'm so proud of him and knew he could do it. He ran sub 10 min. miles all the way, so he's estimating his time at 4:15.

Father And Son

The annual Father and Son Camp out. Trent and Jarom (Ammon next year) went camping with the ward on the Jewks' property. They did some fishing, boating and pyrotechnics (campfires are fun). Jarom loved hanging out with his buddies.

Didn't catch much...good thing dinner didn't depend on him...
Bro. Carlock taking Alex and Jarom on a canoe ride.

Jarom falling out of the canoe...

Everyone helping Jarom out of the lake...what a funny boy!
So let's go swimming instead...

Now that's roughing it...

Bishopric making breakfast

Fun Times!

Girls Night Out

While the boys went on the annual Father and Son Campout, us girls had our own Girls Night Out! We went out to the restaurant, Fire Dragon.

Tarin thought it was a lemon and wondered why it tasted different...I was peeking between the water cups.

Rian wanted to play bandit

Poor little Rae. She had an ear infection a 102 temp and the beginning of strep throat. She was so tired.

Pad Thai with shrimp. Tarin tried shrimp for her first time...thought it was okay. Rian already liked it and we shared it. So Yummy!

Next we went to Brusters for some ice cream. This time we had little Bryn with us. Happy Birthday to Kristin! The kids loved having her around.

Ammon enjoyed watching the ice cream melt and made drip designs on the concrete.

Soon Bryn, real soon you can be like Ammon and paint with your ice cream...

As you can see the Motrin and antibiotics have kicked in...

Rae taking her turn with Bryn...Ammon close behind swinging his arms.

Birthday Wishes

I loved it when the night before my little 5 year-old couldn't wait to give me the gift she picked out. But daddy made her wait. Next morning, she and Tarin had pulled out some roses that they picked out for me. They are so beautiful and smell so good. Rian knew my weakness...Dark Chocolate covered Almonds!!! Ooohh the delight. Ammon had gotten me a balloon and actually gave it to me...thought he won't be able to part with it. Among the other cute gifts Jarom also expressed his love...so sweet. For date night, thank you Troy and Kristin for watching the kiddos, we saw the movie "Date Night!" That was a good flick. Two of our favorite comedians...then my once a year visit to Red Lobster...a stroll through Ashley Park and a purchase of some shoes from DSW. Yep, I have to have someone nearby to make sure I actually buy something for myself. Thanks to my sweet family for a good birthday.

Rian's Library

Sometimes my oldest surprises me and I just have to sit back and admire her creativity...with rolling eyes. Rian decided to take the little bookshelf from the bonus room and make a "library" in her room. She has a collection of chapter books and many other books that she wanted to "share" with everyone else. She created library cards...the one in this picture was one made for daddy.Tarin has checked out a Junie B. Jones book and is close to completeing it.

Not very big, but in her mind it's only a start to what she has planned.

Juicing Oranges

LOVE my Bosch!

I can't even begin to tell you how delicious these freshly juiced oranges were! Oh so sweet and so thick with natural goodness. Wish it lasted longer...wish we could grow orange trees here...
